William E. Boyer, retired Southern Baptist minister, went to meet the Lord on January 10, 2013, he was 85 years old. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Bert L. and Thelma G. Robinson Boyer; sister, Thelma Louise (Mrs. Lawrence) Declue; and daughter-in-law, Nova (Mrs. John) Boyer. He is survived by his wife, Norma R. Boyer of Jackson, TN; brother, Bert R. Boyer (wife Bee) of Farmington; son, John W. Boyer of Leadwood, MO; daughter, Shari (Mrs. James Powers) of Lexington, TN; granddaughters, Valerie (Mrs. Randy Combs and children Matthew, Hailey and Timmy) of Sugar Grove, NC, Rachael Powers of Lexington, TN; and grandson Jonathan. Bill was born in Leadwood, MO and worked in the family hardware store and funeral home until he graduated from Leadwood High School and joined the Merchant Marines. Upon returning home, he furthered his education in Mortuary School in St. Louis. Soon Bert L. Boyer and Sons was operated by three exceptionally skilled undertakers - Bert L., Bill, and Bert Robbie. In July of 1959, Bill surrendered to preach Gods word.He decided to leave his home in Leadwood, MO and move to Jackson, TN so he could attend Union University. When Bill moved to TN he brought with him, Norma and a 10 year old John. Their daughter Shari arrived in time for his first pastorate. Bill pastored many churches around West TN area after graduating from Union -- Beech Bluff Baptist Church in Beech Bluff, Hickory Grove Baptist in Trenton, Grace Baptist in Ripley, Maple Springs Baptist in Medon, Poplar Grove Baptist in Trenton, and then he returned back where he started, to Beech Bluff Baptist Church where he ministered till his retirement.Visitation for Bill will be at Reeds Chapel Funeral Home in Lexington, TN from 10 AM until 8 PM on Friday, January 11, 2013 and will resume Sunday, January 13, 2013 at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Leadwood, MO from 9 AM until the service at 2 PM. Burial will follow at Parkview Cemetery in Farmington, MO.
