Willard Ray “Bill” Mackley, 80, passed away June 9, 2018 at his family farm surrounded by his friends and family. Bill was born April 21, 1938 at Bonne Terre to the late Willard Andrew Mackley and Virgil Rose (Richardson) Mackley Hubbard. On June 7, 1958 he married Georgia Ann (Vallo) Mackley who preceded him in death July 7, 2015.

Bill was also preceded in death by a son, James David Mackley (1988); a grandson, Jeremy Willard Mackley (1996); an uncle and aunt, Leeman H. Mackley and Goldie G. (Richardson) Mackley; special cousins, Leanna (Mackley) Norris; and Dennis Thurman; a step-father, Joe E. Hubbard.

 

Bill was a hard-working farmer almost all his life, who with his wife, took over the family farm in 1959. Together, he and Georgia raised their three children, and helped raise their grandchild on the same farm where he was raised.  Bill enjoyed working his land and raising cattle. He was very involved with the farming community working for IPLA, the Farmington Livestock Market, and serving 10 years with the Ste. Genevieve ASC office. He was also very involved with the St. Francois County 4-H organization. For 30 years, he and his  cousin Bob organized the B&B Farms Annual Machinery Auction held each year on the 4th Saturday of March.

 

Survivors include, his daughter, Kimberly Ann (Tim Glore) Mackley of Bonne Terre; a son, Willard Allen Mackley of St. Louis. Also surviving are special cousins, Bob & Donna Thurman of Farmington, Denny & Kathy Norris, Shannon & Melissa Norris and their children, Avery and Kinley all of Bonne Terre; sister in law, Gladys Ramsey of Farmington; also, special friends Ronnie & Donna Pettus of Bonne Terre.

 

Visitation will be Friday, June 15, 2018, from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Boyer Funeral Home – Taylor Chapel in Farmington. Visitation will resume Saturday at 6:30 am until time of the service at 11 am at the Boyer Funeral Home – Taylor Chapel in Farmington with Rev. David Wright and Rev. Lindell Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at Three Rivers Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Mackley Family 4-H Scholarship Fund or the Shriners Children’s Hospital.  The family wishes to thank Serenity Hospice and his caregivers, Pam, Linda, Amanda, Carol, Michele, Ange, and Shari.
