Walter Robert Gouin, a beloved brother and devoted servant of the Lord, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 30, 2024, at the age of 93. Born on Monday, February 2, 1931, Walter lived a life rich with purpose and faith. Walter was a proud veteran who served in the United States Army, His commitment to service extended beyond his military duties, as he dedicated countless hours to studying the Bible and engaging in biblical work. A born-again Christian, Walter's deep love for the Lord was at the center of his life, shaping his values and guiding his actions.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Theodore and Ernestine (Thibaudeau) Gouin; siblings, Theodore (Joseph) Gouin, Mary (Forrest) Campbell, Helen (Robert) Cross, William Gouin; brother’s in-law, John “Jack” Williamson and Ernest Ducharme; nephew’s, Michael Gouin, James Cross and Mark Cross. Walter is survived by his cherished sisters; Clara Slinkard husband Bruce, Barbara Williamson, and Dorothy Gouin. Each sister held a special place in his heart, and the bond they shared through the years will be remembered with affection. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and family members.
A celebration of Walter's life and legacy will take place on Monday, January 13, 2024 at 1:00P.M. at 6776 Vo-Tech Rd. St. Francois Memorial Park Mausoleum, in Bonne Terre. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring a man who lived with unwavering faith and compassion. The service will include reflections on his life, sharing of cherished memories, and military honors. Walter's memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him. His dedication to faith, family, and service will remain a source of inspiration. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hope Camp, a cause dear to Walter's heart. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever be a guiding light for those who loved him.
