Walter B. Griffith, 84 of Alton, formally from Farmington, passed away October 21, 2015, at Mountain View Nursing Home, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on September 18, 1931 in Perryville Arkansas, to the late Oscar and Elsa (Moore) Griffith. Walter served his country in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954 and later married Sally Rasnic, at the Wortham Church of God on June 3, 1961. While living in St Louis, he enjoyed camping, fishing and playing golf with family and friends. The one thing he enjoyed most was spoiling his grandchildren. When he and Sally retired and moved to Farmington, he enjoyed being a substitute teacher at West County High School and North County High School. He was also a life time member of the Perryville Masonic Lodge in Perryville Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters, and five brothers. Walter is survived by his wife, Sally (Rasnic) Griffith; daughters, Kim O'Connor and husband Kevin of Kansas City and Kelley Orr and husband Dennis of Thomasville; five grandchildren, Kristin O'Connor, Kasey O'Connor and Kaitlin O'Connor, all of Kansas City, Blake Orr and wife Rachel of Alton, Megan Rackley and husband Aaron of West Plains; two great-grandchildren, Cinch Orr of Alton, and Lyla O'Connor-Burns of Kansas city; brother, Bobby Griffith of Little Rock Arkansas. Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge, October 24, 2015, at 11:00 AM until service the time at 1:00 PM. Reverend Bill Bond will be officiating. Interment will follow at Leadwood Cemetery in Leadwood.
