Violet Skaggs

Violet Elizabeth (House) Skaggs 99, of Ste. Genevieve, passed away at Riverview Skilled Care Center in Ste, Genevieve on Monday, April 22, 2024. Violet was born Saturday, February 28, 1925, in St. Francois County, to the late Louis Edward and Ada Ann (Eaves) House.

 Violet was a woman of great faith and when health allowed, she was a dedicated member of the Providence Baptist Church in Bonne Terre, where she enjoyed teaching Sunday school and participating in church activities. She was known for her warm personality and infectious love for chatting on the phone with friends and family.

Violet was preceded in death by her late parents; husband, James Skaggs, Sr.; son, James’s “Jimmy” Skaggs, Jr. and 8 siblings. 

She is survived by her loving daughter, Sandy Thompson and husband Larry; three grandchildren, Thomas (Chrissy) Thompson, Neal (Amy) Thompson, and Katheryn (Kyle) Drury; nine great-granddaughters; one great-great-granddaughter; siblings, Cecil (Carol) House and Marvin (Della) House, along with several nieces, nephews and other family.

Violet will be remembered for her kind heart, unwavering faith, and love for her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
