Vernon “Punk” Motley, 82, of Bonne Terre, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the ones who loved him, at St. Joe Manor in Bonne Terre. He was born November 12, 1939 in Bonne Terre, to the late Wyatt Vernon Motley and Era (Eaton) Motley-Stegall. Vernon was a member of the Boilermakers Union and an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed spending time with his family, but most of all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Vernon was a hoot to be around, hence his nickname Punk, which he was given as a child.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and step-dad, Stanford Stegall.
Vernon is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Trena (Bradley) Motley; children, Kelli Howard and husband Steve, Kim Crawford and husband Glen, Krista Motley-Hawkins, Brian Motley and wife Angela; eight grandchildren, Steven, Bradley, Adam, Katie, Dan, Jace, Braden and Zoe; ten great-grandchildren, Calvin, Benny, Isaac, Ryder, Abram, Ellie, Landon, Ivy, Paisley, and Emmy; siblings, Bob (Marilyn) Motley, Carol (Clinton) Pettus and Connie (David) Mosier; several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends, also survive.
The procession will leave C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre at 1:45 PM, Sunday, February 27, 2022, for the graveside service at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in the Bonne Terre Cemetery.
