Verlon W. Young

Verlon Wayne Young, 82, of Farmington passed away May 26, 2018 at his residence. He was born June 2, 1935 in Steele, Missouri. He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church of Farmington. Verlon served in law enforcement for most of his life in Madison County, serving as Madison County Sherriff for the last seven years of his career.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Jackson and Sadie Lou (Ozment) Young; brother, James Eugene Young; sister, Evelyn Maxine Bronson.

Verlon is survived by his wife, Margie Ellen (Settle) Young; children, Robert Young and wife Amy of Hillsboro, David Tripp of St. Charles, Cynthia, Pam, Karen, Dennis and Darrell; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jimmie Glen Young and wife Karen of Evansville, IN and Billie Joe Young of Arbyrd, MO.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM at the C. Z. Boyer & Son – Taylor Chapel in Farmington with Chaplain Josh Burgard officiating. Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer’s Association.
