Vera Ann Hudson, 86 of Bonne Terre, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 8, 2024, at Camelot Nursing Facility in Farmington. Born on Monday, July 12, 1937, in Hayti, MO, she was a member of the Gospel Light Freewill Baptist Church in Bonne Terre, and a past member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Cahokia, Illinois. Vera was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community. She found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was crocheting, painting, tending to her garden of vibrant flowers, or engaging in lively card games like Skip Bo and Texas Canasta. Vera's fondest memories revolved around dancing with her late husband Jack in their younger days, a reflection of the deep love they shared. Her unending love for her children and grandchildren was evident in the way she cared for them, and she had a special adoration for babies, whom she considered her favorite.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Lee and Mary (Wright) Watkins; loving husband John “Jack” Hudson; son, Steven Hudson, daughter, Karen Waldecker; siblings, Katherine Ford, Carl Watkins, Betty Arendall and husband Truman, Dean Watkins, Lillian Williams and husband Bill, Lilly Callahan and husband Sam, brother in-law, Ronald Belmar; grandchildren, Jamila Yezza, Steven Hudson, Jr., and Ray Sashankar. 

 Vera is survived by her children, Jean Cox, John Hudson III and significant other Barbara, James “Kurt” Hudson, Catherine Case and husband Jimmy and Lisa Brown; sister, Laura Belmar; Twenty-two grandchildren; Fifty-two great-grandchildren; and five great- great- grandchildren filled Vera’s life with happiness. 

 Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre, Tuesday, July 16, 2024 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Visitation will resume Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at 9:00 A.M. until service time of 10:45 A.M. with Reverend Larry Allison officiating. Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis where Vera will be laid to rest by her loving husband John. In lieu of flowers you may donate to the American Diabetes Association or The Alzheimer’s Association.
