Tilghman Smith

TilghmanSmith, 92 of Gulfport, MS, formerly of this area, passed away April 23, 2014, atthe Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport. He was born September 20, 1922 in Hazel, KY. He proudly served his country in the UnitedStates Marines ?? 2nd Marine Division - where he served 5 years inWorld War II, fighting in the Battles of Guadalcanal, Tarawa and Saipan, wherehe was wounded. He was also a lifemember of VFW Post 5896 in Farmington. Tilghman is survived by his son,Leslie M. Smith and wife Jauney of New Orleans; two daughters, ElizabethFranklin of Chesterfield, and Allison McCannon of Bloomington, IN; eightgrandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A service will be held at C.Z. Boyerand Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Monday, May 12, 2014 at1:00PM, with Rev. John Schneider officiating.
