Theresia "Rosie" Smith, formerly of Bonne Terre, beloved homemaker, and cherished mother to her daughter Geraldine “Geri” Poucher and sons Bronce, Jr. and Darrell Smith, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the age of 85, at Farmington Presbyterian Manor. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bonne Terre. Born on Sunday, July 3, 1938, in Karlsbad, Germany, Rosie found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from bowling and ceramics to crocheting and tending to her vibrant garden of flowers. She shared many happy days fishing the great Mississippi river with her late husband, Bronce, and their bond remains unbreakable even in death.
One of Rosie’s fondest traditions was eagerly preparing for Halloween, where she reveled in decorating her home to delight the neighborhood trick-or-treaters. Her spirit of generosity and love for family extended to her role as a devoted grandmother, creating cherished memories with her grandchildren. Theresia's warmth, kindness, and love will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, Viktor and Theresia (Gotshy) Lindner, loving husband, Bronce Smith, Sr.; siblings, Anne Homberg, Maria Weck, Barbara Schomer and Margie Braning.
Rosie is survived by her three children, Geraldine “Geri” Poucher of Farmington, Darrell Smith and wife Geri of Ste. Genevieve, and Bronce Smith, Jr. and wife Anita of Farmington; eight grandchildren, Alina Braning and fiancé Jesse Barton, Ashley Carroll, Lacie Smith, Alex Poucher, Whitney Smith (Terry Westrich), Kelsie Smith, Cody McGee and wife Natalie, Ian Smith and wife Molly; nine great grandchildren, Emma Braning, Logan Tabor, Gracie Braning, Heather Tabor, Katie Braning, Penny Poucher, Shayne Smith, Hadley McGee and Rosie Smith; siblings, Hans Lindner and wife Traudel of Germany and Hilda Myers of Iowa; along with other family members and friends.
In celebration of Rosie’s life, a memorial visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre, Friday, July 5, 2024, from 5:00 P.M. until time of service of 7:00 P.M. to honor Rosie’s legacy of love, family, and joyful moments that she brought to all she encountered. May her lasting spirit continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved her. Pastor Jesse Barton will be officiating. A private inurnment will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Bonne Terre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Center.
