Steven Lyn Messer

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Steven Lyn Messer on Monday, December 30th, 2024, at Mercy Jefferson Hospital in Festus, Missouri. He was born on Monday, July 25, 1966, in St. Louis, Missouri. He was 58 years old at the time of his passing. 

 Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Lelia Skelton, and sister, Fay Pagan. 

Steve was a passionate volunteer fireman. He dedicated the majority of his life to serving others. Known for his countless skills, he was a jack of all trades who never hesitated to lend a helping hand to those in need. 

Family was everything to Steve. He cherished his time with his ten children. He also held a special place in his heart for his multiple stepchildren. Steven will be profoundly missed by his father, Roy Skelton, his sisters, Betty Psalmonds, Brenda Shanefelter and Samantha Tripp, and his brother, Bill Bowers, his children, eleven grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends. 

Steve's life touched so many, and he never knew a stranger. His joy for life, laughter, and kindness will be remembered by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. 

 A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre, Missouri from 4:30 PM followed by a Firemen Service at 6:30 PM to honor Steve. 

 In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
