Sterlyn F. Stevens, 85, of Farmington passed away April 4, 2018 at his residence. He was born October 7, 1932 in Flat River, Missouri to the late Paul and Ruth (Skaggs) Stevens. Sterlyn and his two brothers, Joe and John, owned and operated Stevens Brothers Printing Company in Park Hills, Missouri for 47 years. During which they published The Lead Belt News from 1969 until it sold. Prior to the purchase of The Lead Belt News/ New Sun Printing (which they renamed Stevens Brothers), Sterlyn worked at the Daily Journal for 20 years. He was a member of the Leadington Free Will Baptist Church and proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, Sterlyn was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul “Son” Stevens and Joseph Stevens; sisters, Mary Ellen Weiss, Billie and husband Troy Middendorf, and infant Ruth G. Stevens; son-in-law, Craig Baker; mother-in-law, Ada Fairless; father-in-law, Woodrow “Sandy” Nichols; and brother-in-law, LeeRoy Nichols.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris (Nichols) Stevens; children, Beth and husband Mike Dalton, Sterlyn and wife Becky Stevens, Jean and husband Curtis Glore; grandchildren, Leigh and husband Arturo Aguayo, Lori and husband Jesse Hill, Stephanie and husband Kyle Gilliam, Derek and wife Shayna Stevens, Nathan and wife Brittney Glore, Bethany Glore, Mikayla and husband Jeremiah Childers; great-grandchildren, Noah Aguayo, Skyler and Moxie Hill, Sawyer, Korban, and Oaklyn Gilliam, Madison, Emmalyn, Jep, and Layton James Stevens, Natalie and Sais Glore, and Jamesyn Childers; brother John and wife Darlene Stevens, sister Tessie and husband Francis Asher; sister-in-law’s Charlotte R. Stevens, Charlotte Nichols-Stevens, and Susan and husband Jack Klien; brother-in-law’s, Melvin “Tissell” Weiss, Dave and wife Nancy Gillespie; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home Caldwell Chapel in Park Hills on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Service will be in the Caldwell Chapel on Saturday at 1 PM with Rev. Melvin Weiss assisted by Pastor Cody Alley officiating. Interment will follow at St. Francois Memorial Park.
