Sidney Joseph Bloom, Sr.

Mr. Sidney J. Bloom, Sr., of Avon, Missouri, was born January 13, 1938, at Avon, in Ste. Genevieve County, MO., a son to the late Ted Charlie Bloom and Lena Leotta (Adams) Bloom. On March 8, 1975, Sid was united in marriage to Carol A. Barwick and they shared nearly 43 years together.

Sid went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Nov. 25, 2017, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO., having reached the age of 79 years, 10 months & 12 days.

Sid will be missed by his dear family who loved him so much, including his wife, Carol, of Farmington. One son, Sidney J. and wife, Yvonne, Bloom, Jr., of Barnhart, MO. Two daughters, Barbara and husband, David Duncan of DeSoto, MO; Vickie and husband Elbert Kyle of Farmington. Three sisters, Shirley Ann and husband, Jim Jones; Mary Sue Thompson and Nova Lee Thomure. Also surviving are grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, many friends and his faithful 4-legged companion that he loved "Buddy."

In addition to his father and mother, Sid was preceded-in-death by 2 sisters, Alice Lou Sales and Lucille Douglas Griffard. A brother, Ted C. Bloom, Jr., and 2 brothers-in-law, Harold Thomure and Glennon "Dick" Griffard.

Sid was a 50+ year Mason at St. Francois Lodge #234. He was a Body Shop Foreman for 20 years at Fitz Chevrolet and worked 13.5 years at Mississippi Lime Company. He enjoyed sawmilling, auto repair, watching NASCAR and the Cardinals. Sid was a master at fixing and repairing things. He could do almost anything.

Visitation : Wednesday, 5-8 p.m. Visitation resumes Thursday, 8-11 a.m.
