Shirley Ann Wells

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Ann Wells, who left us peacefully on March 5, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on December 22, 1934, in Desloge, Missouri. 

Shirley was a true lover of the outdoors, valuing the beauty of nature and the joy it brought. She delighted in fishing, tending to her garden, and preserving her harvest through canning. Her green thumb was matched only by her keen cooking skills, as she loved to prepare meals that brought people together. Family and friends will forever cherish the aromas that filled her home, where laughter and love were always present. She found joy in shopping, but her greatest happiness came from surrounding herself with those she cared for deeply. A devoted animal lover, Shirley opened her home to countless strays, offering them comfort and affection.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Alma (Bloom) Jennings; her husband Rex Wells, her first husband and father to her children, William Thomas Drummonds, sons in law, Carl Anderson and David Bond; brothers, Ira “Joe” Jennings and Wilbur “Bub” Jennings.

 Shirley is survived by her children, Tamra Anderson, Kimberly Bond and William “Bill” Drummonds and wife Nancy; seven grandchildren, Machelle Portell, Brandi Fitzwater, Kris Anderson, Jason Bond, Kellie Furlow, Luke Drummonds, and Amber Drummonds; seventeen great grandchildren and several great – great grandchildren. She also leaves behind, special nieces and nephews, Tammie Barnett, Tom Jennings, Jenny Jennings, John “Craig” Jennings, Ferris Jennings, and her two special friends, Jessie Davis and Diane Watts who took her loving fur baby Gracie. 

In honoring Shirley’s life, her family will be holding a private celebration of her life at a later date. Family would like to thank the entire staff at St. Joe Manor, especially the Memory Court Staff for loving her like family.
