Shirley Phares

Shirley Phares, 86, of Desloge, passed away December 24, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at Mercy Jefferson in Festus. She was born August 15, 1938, in Cantwell, to the late Edgar and Dorothy Violet (Richardson) Rehkop. Shirley was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Park Hills. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and worked as an agent/broker in real estate for 40 plus years. Shirley was previously an art teacher at Caledonia, North County and Kingston Schools. She loved spending time with her family and watching her St. Louis Cardinals and Blues.

She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Marvin “Bud” Phares; loving daughter, Denise Gunning; grandson, Chris Golden; brothers, Donnie and Dean Rehkop; sisters, Delores Conway and Dorothy Schoelhamer.

Shirley is survived by two daughters, Kim Warren and husband Steve, Suzanne Roland; five grandchildren, Billy (Erin) Golden, Jermey (Stacy) Marler, Nick (Chelsea) Marler, Jacob (Abby) Roland and Carlie (Nate) Stoffel; ten great-grandchildren, with another great-granddaughter on the way; ten great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Lindell Rehkop, Carol Atkins, Peggy Bailey, Brenda Gray along with special friend Mick Ives.

Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The visitation will resume, Monday, December 30, 2024, from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. Reverend Greg McCord will be officiating. Interment will follow at Odd Fellow Cemetery in Park Hills.
