Shelby Lawson, 79 of Leadwood passed away Friday July 29, 2016 surround by her family. She was born October 25, 1936 in Wortham to the late Adonis and Lavida (LaChance) Young. In addition to her parents, Shelby was preceded in death by her son, Rick Lawson.
Shelby was a nurse in our area for 43 years. She was a graduate of the Mineral Area College nursing program, and started her career with Mineral Area Hospital, she then later worked for Dr. Secor, and USA Drug, most recently for Parkland Health Mart. Shelby was a member of the Leadwood First Church of God.
Shelby is survived by her husband of 61 years, Frankie Lawson; children, Darren (Angie) Lawson, Dee Dee (Tracy) Brenneke; grandchildren, Amber Walburn, Jake Lawson, Jamie (Luke) Drummonds, Ashley (Terry) Moore, Frankie Crawford, Bob Dunlap; 11 great-grandchildren and daughter-in-law, Barb Lawson.
The family would like to thank the staff from Preferred Hospice for all of the kindness and care they have provided.
Visitation will be Monday August 1, 2016 from 4 pm to 9 pm at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge. Funeral service will be 11 am Tuesday at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Chapel with Rev. Ed Watson officiating assisted by Rev. Kendall Hughes. Interment will follow at the Adams Frankclay Cemetery.
