Selma Ruth Thurman

Selma Ruth (Greene) Thurman, 85, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away February 12, 2011 at Norton Suburban Hospital in Louisville, KY.She was born October 21, 1925 in Bonne Terre, Missouri, to Fred B. Greene and Amelia (Meyer) Greene. She was married to Darwood W. Thurman on May 31, 1947.She was formerly a member of Esther Baptist Church in Esther, Missouri, and most recently a member of Open Heart Baptist Church in Columbia, MO.She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband of 50 years, by two brothers, Harold Greene and Ralph Greene, two sisters, Margie (Mrs. Jesse Gibson) and Frances Greene, and by grandson Robbie Thurman.She was a loving mother to her four children who survive, David W. Thurman (Mary), William J. Thurman (Jane), Robert D. Thurman (Karen), and Diana R. Thurman Nichols (Jeff); and a special Grandmother to ten grandchildren, Stephanie, Christopher, Matthew, Jennifer, Andrea, Robbie, Tyler, Stephen, Gable, and Aubrianna. She was Great-Grandma to three great-grandchildren.Friends are invited to visit with the family on Tuesday, February 15 from 4 PM to 8 PM at C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home at 1116 N. Desloge Drive, Desloge, Missouri. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 16 at 11:00 AM at Esther Baptist Church, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Leadington, Missouri.
