Sandra Kay Straughan

            Sandy Straughan, 71 of Desloge, passed away June 21, 2018, at Missouri Baptist Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 18, 1946, in Bonne Terre, to the late James Grimes and Juanita May (Umfleet) Grimes Ransom. Sandy was a member of the First Church of God in Esther and before her battle with cancer, she attended the First Church of God in Desloge. Her pride and joy was her family and she loved attending every event, her kids and grandkids were involved in.

            She was preceded in death by her parents; two granddaughters, Kourtney Straughan and Taylor Phares; and step-father, Walter Ransom.

            Sandy is survived by her husband of 52 years, George Straughan; three children, Lisa (Dave DeClue) Phares of Potosi, Lori Hopper and husband Jeff of Hillsboro, James Straughan and wife Rebecca of Bonne Terre; six grandchildren, Blakley Kay (Phares) Boyett, Quinton Hopper, Weston Hopper, Karlie Straughan, Jake Phares, and Kyle Straughan; one great-granddaughter, Layla Kay Franklin; special sister, Linda Sedgwick; many nieces, nephews and special friends, Cora and Stan LaPlante also survive.

            Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Saturday, June 23, 2018 from 12:00 PM until service time at 3:00 PM. Pastor Keith King will be officiating. Interment will follow at Bonne Terre Cemetery in Bonne Terre. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
