Mr. Homer Samuel "Sam" Whitener passed away Thursday morning, February 27, 2014, at his residence at the age of 82 years & 10 days. Sam was born on February 17, 1932, in Kansas City, MO., & was the son of Homer Whitener and Dolly 'Gannaway' Whitener. Also preceding-in-death were: a brother, Robert Whitener and a granddaughter, Katherine Ferne Whitener.

Sam was a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean War and a member of LePere-McCallister American Legion Post #416, Farmington. Sam was also a member of First Baptist Church of Delassus.

Survivors Include: his wife, Daisy 'Mund' Whitener, of Farmington. Children: Richard "Sam" (& Sally) Whitener, of Farmington, and Robert (& Ginger) Whitener, of Valles Mines; Pamela (& James) Yeager, of Farmington; Dorothy (& John) Laird, of Farmington; Sheila (& Dale) Kure, of Farmington; Susie (& Joe) Rokan, of Bonne Terre. 2 Sisters: Karen (& Henry) Kinneman, of Farmington, and Annabel (& Bill) Lloyd, of Farmington. A special cousin that he considered a brother, Ray (& Jean) Whitener, of Festus. Also surviving are 12 Grandchildren; 14 Great-Grandchildren; numerous Nieces & Nephews.

Sam's New Funeral Arrangements Due To The Forecasted Weather -

Visitation Starts : Saturday, @ 2:00 p.m., March 1st

Funeral : Saturday, 6:00 p.m., March 1st

at : TAYLOR Funeral Service CHAPEL, with Rev. Charles Shrum officiating.

Graveside Services & Burial : Wednesday, 2:00 p.m., March 5, 2014, (postponed after March 1st funeral due to winter storm)

Memorials to : * Kaytee Whitener Memorial Scholarship Fund &/or Delassus First Baptist Church
