Samuel H. Brockes, 85, of Park Hills passed away Monday, March 2, 2015 at Mercy Hospital Jefferson. He was born Saturday, April 20, 1929 in Iron County to the late Trisdom and Ethel (Miner) Brockes. Samuel served his country in the United States Army for four years with most of his time spent in Korea. He was a life member of the Bismarck VFW Post #6947 and a past Noble Grand of the Bismarck Odd Fellow Lodge #349. He enjoyed time spent at his cabin on the river hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He was a member of the Bismarck Assembly of God Church. Samuel was a tried and true "Elvins Boy" affectionately known to many as "Grandpa". In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Hilda (Maples) Brockes; daughters, Debra Barton and Anna Parker; brother, Paul Brockes and sister, Julie Copeland. Samuel is survived by grandchildren, Mark Brockes and fiancé Chris Deleal, Amy Ford and husband Bob, Amanda Brownlee and husband Kelley, Randa Gregory, and Mykey Barton; great-grandchildren Katie Bugg, Adam, Christian, Trinity, Hannah Rose, Desiraea, and Alayna; one brother, Cecil Brockes and wife Barbara; one sister, Ersie Webb and husband Charlie. Visitation will be Thursday, March 5, 2015 at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Caldwell Chapel in Park Hills from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a VFW service at 7:00 PM. Funeral service will be Friday, March 6, 2015 at 11:00 AM at C.Z. Boyer & Son Caldwell Chapel in Park Hills with the Rev. Mike Barton officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Leadington with Full Military Honors. Memorials can be directed to Bismarck Assembly of God.
