Sam Cole

M/Sgt. Retired Samuel “Bud” Cole went to heaven, Friday, October 20, 2017 at his home in Leadington, surrounded by his wife and sister-in-law, Judi Sumpter, R.N. He was born Wednesday, September 8, 1937 in Hurryville to the late Herbert and Lorene (Johnson) Cole. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Ronald E. Cole and wife Patricia Cole; and one brother, Robert Cole. Sam retired from the Missouri Department of Corrections as a Corrections Officer after first retiring from the United States Air Force. He served his country with distinction and honor for 24 years, including service in Vietnam.

Sam is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Wanda (Boyer) Cole; son, Donnie Cole and wife Yvette; four beautiful granddaughters, Kelly (Randy) Johnson, Natasha Cole, Becky (Corey) Dee, Courtney Cole; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Madison Johnson, Clayton and Laney Dee; brothers, Dale (Sharon) Cole, Jim Cole, Jerry Cole; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Herald, Patricia (Paul) Oder, and Judi Sumpter; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends survive.

Visitation will be Monday, October 23, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home Caldwell Chapel in Park Hills. Service will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dennis Walker officiating. Interment will follow at Parkview Cemetery in Farmington. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
