Ruth Iona Beckett

Ruth Beckett, 95 of Cumming GA and formerly of Desloge, passed away Friday, January 18, 2013.She was born January 8, 1918 in Desloge to the late Jesse and Mae Wood (Clemons) Boland.When she lived in Desloge, she was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church in Desloge and attended church there for 86 years until moving to Georgia.Ruths church family was very important to her and she never spoke a negative word when it came to her church. She is also preceded in death by husband, Sidney Beckett; and sisters, Jesse Mae Boland and Thelma Brooks. Ruth is survived by sons, Russell Beckett and wife Peggy of Georgia,Rev. Dr.Sanford Beckett and wife Diane of Kansas City, Missouri; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many other special family members and friends. The family will accept friends at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Thursday, January 24, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will resume at The First Baptist Church in Desloge, Friday, January 25, 2013 at 9:00 AM.The service will begin at 10:00 AM with Pastor Bradford Laubinger, Dr. Doug Elders, and Dr. Sanford Beckett officiating.Interment will follow at St. Francois Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, the family asks Memorials be made to The First Baptist Church in Desloge, Building Fund.
