Ruth Brewen

Ruth Marie (Stricklin) Brewen of Valles Mines, a beloved homemaker and devoted member of the Silver Springs Baptist Church, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the age of 91. Ruth was born on Monday, July 11, 1932, in Edgehill to the late John G. and Mary Elizabeth “Lizzie” (Litton) Stricklin.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life of 71 years, Charles Ray Brewen; her daughter, Joyce Ann Brewen; sister, Eunice Twomey and brother, Ira Stricklin.

Ruth is survived by her beloved children, Cindy (Tom) Cox, Teresa (Ed) White, Brian (Kathy) Brewen, Lance (Susie) Brewen, and Bruce (Sherry) Brewen; twelve grandchildren, Lisa (Doug) Skaggs, Jennifer (Darrell) Biri, Elaine (Joseph) Lanham, Joe (Michele) Cox, Amber Black, Kyle Brewen, Beka (Andy) Clark, Rachel Brewen, Justin (Kea) Brewen, Nathan White, Aaron White and Christopher White; nine great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Ralph (Barb) Stricklin, Roy (Margy) Stricklin and Wanda McBride; along with other friends, family and church family.

Throughout her life, Ruth found joy teaching Sunday school, quilting, and fishing alongside her late husband. Her warm and nurturing spirit touched the lives of everyone she met. She will be remembered for her unfailing kindness, gentle guidance and unwavering faith.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 12, 2024, at C.Z. Boyer Funeral Home in Bonne Terre from 10:00 A.M. until service time of 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Roy Kaylor and Pastor Randy Murphy officiating. Burial to follow at Hall Cemetery in French Village.
