Robert Slick Sutton

Robert "Slick" Sutton, 72 of Poplar Bluff and formerly of Park Hills, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.He was born January 9, 1940 in Potosi.Robert proudly served his country in The United States Army, after completing Leadwood High School in 1958.He worked over 30 years for St. Joe Minerals and Doe Run Company, and in his spare time, loved spending time at home gardening and quality time with his 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.Robert was a former member of the Flat River City Council and a life time member of the United Steel Workers local 6242. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann (Dalton) Sutton; parents, John and Francis (Brawley) Sutton. Robert is survived by children, Debbie (Mrs. David) Kirkwood of Boss, Teri (Mrs. Tony) Page of Poplar Bluff, Robin (Mrs. Greg) Nichols of Park Hills, Lori (Mrs. John) Newman of Springfield; grandchildren, Ashley Kirkwood, Nolan (Andi) Kirkwood, Robbie (Kora) Nichols, John Nichols, Kyle Newman, Jillian Page; great granddaughter, Raelynn Jud-Nichols; siblings, Wanda, Lucy, Della Mae, Fran (Ed), Calvin (Lucille) Sutton; sister in-law, Debbie Sutton; numerous nieces and nephews, and a special friend Vernice Seratt. Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home of Desloge, Friday, April 13, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.Service will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Chapel at 11:00 AM, Saturday April 14, 2012 with Brother John Newman officiating.Interment will follow at Cedar Falls Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Park Hills Nutrition Center.
