Robert Bob Dodson

Robert Lee "Bob" Dodson, 86, of Bonne Terre passed away at his residence May 25, 2013. He was born July 31, 1926 in Bonne Terre to the late Joseph Harrison and Iva Hester (Mayo)Dodson. Bob was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Joseph Dodson;grandson, Bryan Dodson; sisters, Louise Loewe, Mabel Tennison and Boots Finton;brother, Charles Dodson.Bob was a WW II Veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy during the years of 1943-1946.He was a seaman aboard the USS SAVO ISLAND, during his service Bob earned thePresidential Unit Citation and 4 Battle Stars. Bob was a charter member of theGospel Light Freewill Baptist Church, he served as a trustee for many years,worked in childrens church many years and was a faithful member. He loved hispastors and church very much. He retired from General Motors after 30 years, and loved his retirement for 31 years. He took pleasure in his workshop doing all types of wood work and crafts. He loved working in his yard and most of all he loved being with his family and going on family vacations. Bob is survived by his wife of 66 years, Doris Imogene (Mudge) "Jean" Dodson;children, Kenneth Dodson and wife Paula of Monet, MO, Richard Dodson ofPocahontas, and Susan McGee and husband Michael of Bonne Terre; 11 grandchildrenand many great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday May 27, 2013 from 5 to 9 pm at the C.Z. Boyer & Son FuneralHome in Bonne Terre. Visitation will resume Tuesday May 28, 2013 from 9 am to11 am at the Gospel Light Freewill Baptist Church in Bonne Terre, a funeralservice will follow the visitation at the church with Rev. Larry Allison officiating. Interment will be at the Bonne Terre Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
