It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Wayne Arment, who passed at Farmington Community Manor, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, who entered into eternal rest on March 28, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on January 23, 1933, in Elmer, MO, to the late Joseph and Leota (Wooden) Arment. Robert lived a life marked by dedication, service, and love.
Bob graduated from Ashley High School, Ashley, IL, and was later a graduate of Northeast Missouri State University. He also served 26 honorable years in the United States Air Force and the Missouri National Guard, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-5). Bob enjoyed a fulfilling career, later retiring as a valued employee of the U.S. Air Force. After retirement he worked in retail and education; dedicated to his community and deeply involved in his church, at St. Matthew Lutheran in Bonne Terre, where he found purpose and camaraderie. He enjoyed traveling, camping, working in his yard and taking care of his pets especially his two fur babies Bisquit and Summer.
Bob loved his large family. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Homer Arment and Happy Lee Arment; sisters Frances Edland, Eula Perkins, Wilma Ryburn, and Joan Neiderhofer; grandson Soren Roeseler; son-in-law H. Ross Asbury; stepson Jeff Scharpenburg, and former wife Pauline (Gregorace) Arment.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Betty (Scharpenburg) Arment of Bonne Terre; daughter Nancy Asbury, of Silverdale, WA; son John (Susan) Arment of Moberly, MO; daughter Gloria (Ron) Wiebers, of Parker, CO; son Richard (Maxine) Arment of Louisville, CO; daughter Faith (Scott) Roeseler, of St. Louis, MO; daughter Joy (Nathan) Hershberger, of St. Louis, MO; stepson Mark (Veda) Scharpenburg, of Omaha, NE; and former wife Nancy (Davis) Arment, of St. Louis. Also surviving are nineteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre, from 10:00 A.M. until service time of 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Jeremy May officiating. Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis MO at 1:30 P.M. with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests gifts be made to the Farmington Pet Adoption Center or Central Missouri Humane Society.
