Rita Kay Keen

Rita Kay (Pettus) Keen, 67, of Bonne Terre passed away June 17, 2016. She was born September 29, 1948 in Bonne Terre to the late Clarence and Almalee (Skaggs) Pettus. She was a very active member of the Bonne Terre Eagles Lodge for 25 years where she was instrumental in fundraising for various charities. She was also active with organizing and managing the lodge bingo. She was a member of the VFW ladies’ auxiliary in Desloge and was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Paul “Butch” Keen; sister, Carolyn Jean Hawkins; brothers-in-law, Larry Keen, John Keen, and Howard “Bud” Hawkins.

Rita is survived by her son, Paul and wife Linda Keen of Bonne Terre; grandchildren, Brittany and husband Joseph Ash, Jarred and wife Megan Wampler, and Kyle and wife Codi Wampler; great-grandchildren, Claira, Chole, Noah, Sawyer, Carter, Charlotte, and Skylar; brother, Harry Pettus; sisters, Mary Jane and husband Walter Richardson and Rosa and husband Harold Dodson; sister-in-law, Sandy Keen.

Visitation will be Monday, June 20, 2016 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Bonne Terre with a VFW ladies auxiliary service at 7 PM. Funeral service will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the C. Z. Boyer & Son Chapel in Bonne Terre with Pastor Dean Berry officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
