It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rick Wayne McCoy, who lived a rich and vibrant life. Born on September 29, 1957, in St. Louis, Rick was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Regina McCoy and a loving father to his sons Justin, Trevor, Travis, Richard, and Matthew. He embraced life with passion and enthusiasm until his peaceful passing on August 23, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

He was preceded in death by his father Richard McCoy, brother, Alan “Rocky” McCoy, brother in-law, Mark Higginbotham; two dear nephews, Corey McCoy and Chad Harrington; a special young lady Katlynn Marie Newhouse.

 Rick is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Regina (Barton) McCoy; his cherished mother, Annabell (Rasnic) McCoy; five children, “Ralph” Justin McCoy(Stephanie Abel), Trever Kelly and wife Kelli, Travis Daugherty(Jessica Davis), Richard McCoy and wife Brandi, and Matthew McCoy and wife Kara; Thirteen grandchildren that he cherished, Haley, Ashton, Owen, Grant, Nora, Jack, Wyatt, Klayton, Bailey Jo, Triston, Blake, Elijah and Gracie; siblings, Nedra Harrington and husband Mark, Melissa Daniels and husband James, Michelle Higginbotham her fiancé Dan; brother/sister in-laws, Mike Barton, Sr. and wife JoAnna, Ronnie Barton, David Barton and wife Donna, Peggy Scott and husband Harold, Patricia Bohenkamp and husband Jim, Cindy Boren and husband Kevin; and close niece, Sunny Smith (David); along with several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. 

 Rick was of Catholic faith and actively participated in various community organizations, including the MAC Elks Lodge #2583. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was spending time at his Deer Camp (The He Man, Women Haters Club) as he would call it with his friends or tending to his cattle and working in his hayfields. Known for his infectious laughter and zest for life, Rick was affectionately called Uncle Rick by all who knew him. A retired Iron Worker from Local 396, he found it to be a passion, enjoying teaching, working with new apprentice. Rick's commitment to helping others extended beyond his professional life. He dedicated his time to organizing benefits for those in need and was a pillar of support in his community. His jovial nature and unparalleled sense of humor made him the soul of every gathering, spreading warmth wherever he went. 

In his free time, Rick enjoyed fishing, hunting, and giving hayrides to children. He enjoyed cooking and winemaking, hobbies he shared with friends and family. Rick's love for socializing, hosting fish fry’s, and dancing to honky tonk music embodied his vibrant spirit. A staunch believer in standing up for what he believed in, Rick was a passionate democrat and an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and huge St. Louis Blue fan. His love for life was palpable in everything he did, whether it was soaking in the joy of moments with his treasured fur baby Maggie or spreading laughter among his close-knit circle of friends., where friends and family can gather to honor his memory and share stories of his extraordinary adventures.

Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer Funeral Home in Desloge, on Monday, August 26, 2024, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. With a MAC Elks service at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at 9:00 A.M. until service time of 12:00 P.M. with Pastor Mike Barton Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Leadington. 

 

The family would like to give a special thank you to Preferred Hospice and the Cancer Center at Parkland BJC in Farmington for their unwavering care and compassion they gave Rick during the time of his illness.

Rick will be forever remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family and friends. His absence will be deeply felt, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
