Richard V. Backlin

Richard V. Backlin, 73, of Bonne Terre passed away December 11, 2017 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis. He was born April 24, 1944 in South Holland, Illinois. Richard retired as Chief of Police for the Calumet City, Illinois Police Department. He then worked as the Housing Manager at Mineral Area College, from which he also retired. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Virl and Viola (Klocke) Backlin and his loving wife, Roswitha (Kollmar) Backlin.

Richard is survived by four loving children, Bridget Backlin of Bonne Terre, Brenda Kollmar of Bonne Terre, Carol Tuller and husband Danny of Fredericktown, Gary Stamm and wife Kristi of Desloge; six grandchildren, Breanna Backlin, Ryan Shotwell, Anna Shotwell, Sarah Stamm, Jacob Stamm, Mitchell Tuller; brother, Robert Backlin and wife Rita of Mokena, IL; sister, Luella Caldenaro of Wheatfield, IN.
