With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Richard Paul Marler, a loving husband, dad, gramps and cherished member of his community.
Richard, whose love for his family was unwavering, was called to eternal rest on Monday, September 16, 2024, at the age of 84. He was born on Monday, April 8, 1940, to the late Lawrence E. and Golda (Buchanan) Marler.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Melvina "June" Muir, Lawrence "Larry" Marler, Thomas "Tom" Marler and William "Bill" Marler.
He leaves behind his loving wife Barbara (Kondrad) Marler; son, Von Marler; grandchildren, Clista (DJ Cook) Beam, Casey Marler, Dedrik (Sierra) Marler, Lizi Marler, Kindrik Marler, Dametri Marler; great-grandchildren, Konnor Usher, Kollin Usher, Kolton Usher, Amelia Marler, Hazel Marler; siblings, Donna Mullins, Dorinda “Janie” Simpson; brother-in-law, Pete Kondrad, along with many nieces and nephews.
Richard, proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked many years at Bethlehem Steel in Pea Ridge Iron Mine in Missouri.
He was a proud member of the Bonne Terre Church of God. He lived a life rooted in the principles of love for his family, the outdoors, and a deep devotion to the Lord.
Throughout his life, Richard found joy in the simple pleasures of gardening, hunting, fishing, and tending to his lawn. His kindness and friendly nature meant that he never knew a stranger, always ready with a smile and a helping hand for those in need. Richard's 61 years of marriage to his beloved wife Barbara were a testament to the enduring power of love and commitment.
As we grieve the loss of Richard, we find solace in the memories of his warm presence and the impact he had on all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, love, and faith will live on in the hearts of those he treasured.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 20, 2024 at C.Z. Boyer & Son Chapel in Bonne Terre from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The visitation will resume on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Bonne Terre Church of God from 12:00 PM until Service time of 2:00 PM Pastor Matt Smith to be officiating. . The graveside service will follow at Mitchell Cemetery with full military honors.
May we find comfort in each other as we honor the life of a man who touched so many with his compassion and genuine spirit. Rest in peace, Richard Marler.
