Richard L. Mabery, of Farmington, was called to his eternal home on April 27, 2024, at Southbrook Nursing Facility at the age of 86. He was born March 12, 1938 at Bonne Terre, MO to the late Loya and Edith Mabery. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Jo Aubuchon; son, Jeffery L. Mabery; granddaughter, Christina Nicole Mabery; sisters Bonnie Crites and Betty Miller.  

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Glenda; daughter, Tricia Walker (Tom), Springfield, MO; son, Matthew (Mary Virginia), Birmingham, AL; daughter-in-law, Paula Mabery, Park Hills, MO; grandsons, Dustin Mabery (Erin), Tristan Walker (Amanda), Hugh Mabery; granddaughters, Sienna Winchester, Lindsey Chrisco (Greg), Aubry Mabery, Paisley Mabery; seven great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Paul Sitzes (Barbara), Richmond, VA; sister-in-law, Margaret Kiplinger, Dallas, TX; special nieces, Sarah Bertram, Jane Robke; long-time dear friends, Mike and Judy Heflin, Mike Hogan and Phyllis, and David Pearman, along with a host of family and friends.

Richard was an administrative assistant and customer service  representative, Pea Ridge Iron Ore Company, Sullivan, MO for 40 years. He retired after pancreatic cancer surgery in 1999, a 25 year survivor.

Richard will be remembered for his faith, his love for Jesus Christ, serving others, his infectious laugh, and his whistling and humming. Family and family-time was a highlight of his with many memories of gatherings at his home or down on AA. He enjoyed sports, following the St. Louis Rams, the Cardinals, and more recently the Chiefs.

He has been affiliated with the Park Hills (Flat River) Church of Christ for 75 years where he was an elder, led music, taught classes, was youth leader, helped with VBS, did lay ministry, developed the weekly bulletin, performed janitor services and participated in ministering and serving those in need in the community. He also did mission work with his cousin, Jim Mabery, in Russia, Scotland, Ghana, West Africa and Southeast Missouri.

Working with youth activities that his children were involved in was a definite passion. Richard was involved in T-Ball, Cub and Boy Scouts, Camp High Hill Christian Camp where he was a director, teacher, and dorm Dad and cheering for the Central R3 sports teams and band performances.

Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Thursday, May 2, 2024 from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM with Senior Minister James Chaisson officiating. Interment will follow at St. Francois Memorial Park. Memorial may be made to Park Hills Church of Christ or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
