Richard Hovis, 87, of Bixby, passed away August 17, 2016, surrounded by family. He was born February 19, 1929 in Rivermines, to the late John Henry and Bertha (Howell) Hovis. Richard was raised Freewill Baptist, retired from St. Joe and served his country in The United States Army during the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert Hovis, five siblings, Charles, Clyde, and Gene Hovis, Hazel Spencer, and Leona Coleman.
Richard is survived by five children, John Hovis and wife Jennifer, Karen (Mrs. Steve) Blair, Richard L. Hovis, Jr., Vennie Gerber and Beth Hovis; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-one, great-grandchildren; three siblings, Arthur Hovis, Lucille Wilt, and Dwain “Bub” (Lonnie) Hovis; and sister in-law, Melba Hovis.
Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Friday, August 19, 2016 from 11:30 AM until service time at 1:00 PM. Pastor Bradford Laubinger will be officiating. Interment will follow at Parkview Cemetery in Farmington.
