Rev. Larry N. Johnson

Rev. Larry N. Johnson passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016, at the Baptist Home in Ironton, at the age of 76 years and 2 months. Larry was born March 12, 1940, in East Bonne Terre, Mo., and was the son of Rev. Noel C. Johnson (dec'd 2005) & Esther Ida 'Slowensky' Johnson (dec'd 2004).

Larry graduated from Farmington High School in 1957. He graduated in 1959 from Flat River Junior College and in 1961 from Southeast Missouri University. He then graduated in 1964 from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. While in seminary at Louisville, Larry became Pastor of the Cold Springs Baptist Church, in Battletown, KY. Larry completed Chaplaincy Training at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1968. Larry was an elementary school teacher at North County Elementary School, Bonne Terre, and later Principal of North County Elementary School, Desloge. In 1979, he became Minister of Education at First Baptist Church, Farmington. He was hired in July 1984 as Consultant to Aging at The Baptist Home, Ironton, and then went to Chillocothe in this capacity to develop the home, later becoming the Administrator of the Chillocothe facility. In 1990, he became the Administrator at The Baptist Home, Arcadia Campus. From 1997 -to- 2005 he served as President of The Baptist Home.

Survivors Include : his wife of 54 years, Jane 'Snider' Johnson, of Farmington. A son, Todd (& Kimberly) Johnson, of Tallahassee, FL. 3 sisters: Anna (& Glenn) Branson, of Farmington; Margaret Heil, of Cobden, IL, and Nancy (& David) Stroud, of Farmington. 2 aunts: Mildred Gahr and Audrey Gibbs, both of Steelville, MO. 5 granddaughters - Audrey, Savanna, Davina, Yuly & Riza, of Tallahassee, FL. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.

Visitation : Friday, 5-9 p.m. at Farmington First Baptist Church. Visitation resumes Saturday, 9 am at church.

Funeral : Saturday, 11:00 a.m., May 21, 2016,

at : Farmington First Baptist Church, with Dr. William C. Miller and Rev. Steve Jones officiating

Interment at : Hillview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Farmington
