'View Video Tribute'
Rev. Donald C. Stanley passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at Farmington Presbyterian Manor, at the age of 89 years, 2 months & 20 days. Don was born Nov. 3, 1918, in Dixon, Nebraska, and was the son of Claude and Eva 'Phipps' Stanley. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings: Iva Manz, Milton Stanley, Robert Stanley & Joyce Nieman and his mother-in-law, Betty Swedberg.
Survivors Include: his wife of 65 1/2 years, Angeline J. 'Swedberg' Stanley, of Farmington; His children: Pat Stanley, of Lawrence, KS; Mary 'Mrs. Dave' Thurman, of Louisville, KY; Bill Stanley, of Louisville, KY; Cathy 'Mrs. Jim' Bledsoe, of Union, MO; Janet 'Mrs. Terry' Hudson, of Springfield, MO; Paul (& Judie) Stanley, of Lees Summit, MO. 8 Grandchildren: Stephanie (Steve) Williams; Chris & Matt Thurman; Tim & Ryan Bledsoe; Valerie Hudson; Ben & Bud Stanley. 2 Step-Granddaughters, 3 Great-Grandchildren, other relatives & many friends.
Don attended & graduated from: Dixon High School; Scottsbluff Jr. College; William Jewel College and Central Baptist Seminary. Don was ordained at Paradise Baptist Church in Paradise, MO. Don pastored churches in Harrisburg & Hull, Nebraska; and the following churches in Missouri: Paradise, Hopewell, Stanberry, Polo, Desloge 1st Baptist Church (1960-1985), & served as Interim Pastor at Farmington 1st Baptist Church & many other local churches. Don was a member of The Missouri Baptist Convention Executive Board; President of the Missouri Baptist Homes in Ironton & Chillicothe and helped to launch the Baptist Home in Ozark; Moderator of The Mineral Area Association; member of The Desloge Ministerial Alliance; HospiceCare, Inc., Rotary Club & was an avid supporter of the North County School District.
Visitation (Held @ Farmington First Baptist Church) : Friday, 3-8 p.m. Visitation resumes Saturday, 9 am @ Farm. 1st Bapt. Church.
Funeral : Saturday, 11:00 a.m., January 26, 2008
at : Farmington First Baptist Church, with Dr. William C. Miller officiating, assisted by Rev. Harold Myers.
Burial follows at Hillview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Farmington. Serving as Pallbearers were: Al Roderick; Pete Martin; Ron Dugal; Herky Tiefenauer; Fred Mayse; Wayne Arms; Bill Helms; Loman Stone & Harvey Faircloth.
