Mrs. Phyllis Jean Herbst passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2003, at The Guardian House Nursing Home, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, at the age of 77 years, 4 months & 22 days. She was born July 18, 1926, in Farmington, to Ethel Irene 'Batson' Brockmiller & John Hobart Brockmiller. She is the elder of 2 daughters. Her sister, Helen, was born April 26, 1931. Phyllis grew up in Farmington & graduated from Farmington High School in 1944. On Aug. 19, 1944, she married Lawrence Herbst & had 4 children: Kay Lynn; Stephen; Greg & Susan. She has 7 Grandchildren: Billy; Leslie; Erika; Kristen; Amy; Johnny & Catherine. She also has 6 Great- Grandchildren: Aundrea; Taylor; Nicholas; Lauren; Madisen & Alexander. Phyllis was preceded-in-death by her husband, Lawrence Raymond Herbst (Oct. 20, 1995); 1 Son, Gregory Herbst (May 30, 1997) & 1 Sister, Helen DeMarco. Phyllis was a dedicated housewife & mother. She was a devoted Catholic & participated in many church activities. She loved visiting with friends & family & volunteered in various religious activities. She enjoyed baking & sharing her "goodies" with others. She loved flowers, working in her yard, listening to music & taking long walks. Visitation will be Monday, December 15, 2003, from 4-9 p.m. Rosary will be recited Monday evening, 7:00 p.m., by Deacon Al Gegg @ TAYLOR Funeral CHAPEL. Visitation will resume Tuesday morning at 7 a.m. The Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, 10 am St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Farmington. Interment will follow in New Calvary Cemetery in Farmington. Memorials may be made to: The Alzheimer's Association; The American Heart Association &/or St. Joseph's Catholic Church - Building Fund.
