Pearl Duncan, 93, of DeSoto and Festus, passed away April 8, 2020 at her daughter’s residence in Gerald, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born November 27, 1926, in Annapolis, to the late Sylvester and Mary (Moss) Hackworth. Pearl was of Baptist faith and loved playing Bingo, dancing, going to McDonald’s, and making desserts. She always had a smile on her face.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray Isaac Duncan; brothers, Cecil, Irvin and Emmett Hackworth; sisters, Hattie Evaline Johnson, Villa Reed, and Martha Emaline Jankie; and one son in-law, Danny Shipp.
Pearl is survived by children, Ray Leo Duncan and wife Penny, Mary Pate and husband Michael, Betty Fernow and husband Herbert, Jackie Shipp, Carl Duncan, and Sue “Evelyn” Trupiano and husband David; sixteen grandchildren; many great and great-great grandchildren.
A PRIVATE burial will be held at Annapolis Cemetery, under the direction of C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge. Pastor Howard Casteel will be officiating. Memorials may be directed in Pearl’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Center.
