Odess "Scoop" Lee Thurman

            Scoop Thurman, 100, of Park Hills, passed away July 11, 2017. He was born February 23, 1917, in Doe Run, to the late Clarence and Mary (Bess) Thurman. Scoop was a member of the Elks Lodge in Desloge, and former Councilman for the City of Flat River. 

            He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth Rozene (Thomure) Thurman; son, Robert C. Thurman; and three brothers. 

            Scoop is survived by two daughters, Shirley Thurman, Mary Roseann Eaton and husband Freeman; grandchildren, Bryan Eaton and wife Cathy, Dawn Ogle and husband Rob; two great-grandchildren, Drake and Grant Ogle; several special nieces and nephews also survive.
 

            Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Saturday, July 15, 2017, from 11:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM. Chaplain Brad Barton will be officiating. Interment will follow at St. Francois Memorial Park in Bonne Terre. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Shriners Hospital for Children, Heart Association, Kidney Association, or St. Francois County Relay For Life.
