Norman Steven Grooms, born on December 13, 1945, in St. Louis, Missouri, passed away on October 24, 2024, at Autumn Meadows Nursing Center in Cahokia, Illinois. A proud veteran, Norman served his country honorably in the United States Army. His commitment to service was mirrored in his strong involvement as a Mason, where he found camaraderie and purpose among his brethren. He was a man of faith, rooted in the Methodist tradition.

Norman had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, which was reflected in his hobbies and interests. He found joy in coon hunting, often accompanied by his loyal coon dogs, and he took pleasure in deer hunting and fishing. Norman also spent many happy moments on his farm, tending to his horses and cattle, activities that brought him fulfillment and a sense of connection to the land.

Norman was preceded in death by his father, Tyler Harrison Grooms; mother, Berniece (Hogland) Grooms; step-mother, Wanda Grooms; and his sister, Maxine Smith, and her husband Dillon.

He is survived by his three children, Becky Eaton and husband Ted, Tammy Friend and husband Timmy, Scott Grooms and wife Katie; six grandchildren, Tyler (Naoka) Friend, Taylor (Nathan) Geile, Tanner Friend, Madison Binkard, Emily Eaton, and Grant Eaton; three great-grandchildren, Gunner Geile, Kannon Geile, and Yumeka Friend; special aunt, Vivian Grooms; nephews, Steve Smith, Gary Smith, and Johnny Smith; Norman's lifelong friend, Danny; along with numerous cousins and friends, will also carry fond memories of him.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 1, 2024 at Knob Lick Cemetery in Knob Lick, MO. Arrangements are under the direction of C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home – Taylor Chapel in Farmington.
