Norman "Doc" Mahurin

            Norman “Doc” Mahurin left this life on December 19, 2016, at his home in Desloge. He was born September 7, 1930, in Gumbo, to Louis Raymond “Dock” Mahurin and Goldie Cleo (Wood) Mahurin. He was united in marriage to his loving wife Patricia Anne Schwent on October 6, 1950. “Doc” may be remembered professionally for his business N.L. Mahurin Builders. He and his employees built numerous homes, churches and businesses in St. Francois and the surrounding counties. He was Building Superintendent on many large professional jobs, including John C. Lincoln Hospital in Phoenix, AZ and many other homes and businesses in Arizona, Oklahoma, and Texas. He will be remembered on a personal level as a man of integrity with an exuberant, outgoing personality. Of all of his accomplishments, he took the most pride in his family and friends. 

            Doc leaves behind his devoted wife of 66 years Patricia Mahurin; children, Belinda (Leonard) Miller, Charles “Chuck” (Karen) Mahurin, and Pamela (John) Weiss; grandchildren, Alica (Roger) White, Chad (April) Mahurin, Amanda (Tony Schmidt) Mahurin, Sarah Weiss; great-grandchildren, Victoria, Avery, Brennan, Cole, Michael, Merissa, Katelyn, Briley, Sophia, Zachary and Garrett. He also leaves his loving sister, Rhonda Hulsey; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Several looked to him as a substitute uncle, brother, dad or grandpa.

             Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Wednesday, December 21, 2016 from 4:30 PM until 9:00 PM with a Masonic Service at 7:00 PM. The service will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Chapel, Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 1:30 PM with Rev. Eddie Bone officiating. Interment will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Park Hills. Memorials may be directed to American Cancer Society or Stand Up To Cancer.
