Norma Toppins, 85, of Farmington, passed away January 18, 2017. She was born September 17, 1931 in Elvins, to the late Oliver Bruce and Lela Jane (Latimer) Hulsey. Norma was a member of the First Baptist Church in Farmington and a past District Deputy of the Eastern Star. She sang in the New Creation Choir and Ladies Quartet at her church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, L.J. “Toad” Mathes; second husband, Marvin Toppins; two brothers, Carrol and Donald Hulsey; and three sisters, Marie Bailey, Dorothy Hulsey, and Blanche Husley.
Norma is survived by her children, Kathy “Sue” (Mrs. John) Kennedy of Park Hills, Mark “Toby” Mathes and wife Dawn of Farmington, and Marty Mathes of Park Hills; four grandchildren, Chris (Susan) Kennedy, Jeremy (Michelle Martin) Kennedy, Amy (James) Houston, and Sara (Gabe) Lindsey; six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church in Farmington, Friday, January 20, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The service will be held at the church, Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 10:00 AM with Dr. Bill Miller officiating. Interment will follow at St. Francois Memorial Park in Bonne Terre. Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church in Farmington’s Building Fund.
