Myrtle Irene 'Johnson' Gordon passed away Feb. 20, 2005, at Parkland Health Center, Farmington, at the age of 82 years, 7 months & 26 days. Myrtle was born June 24, 1922, in Libertyville, Mo., to Alonzo Alexander Johnson & Mary 'Martin' Johnson. She was also preceded-in-death by her husband, Andrew James "A.J." Gordon (Sept. 8, 2001); 1 Sister, Edna Hale & 2 Brothers: Paul & Carl Johnson.
Myrtle was: * a graduate of Farmington High School & worked @ Trimfoot Shoe Co., during WWII; * she married Andrew James (Jay) Gordon Dec. 29, 1945, in Farmington. He passed away Sept. 8, 2001, after 56 years of marriage; * she helped Jay with his business, including Rosser Produce Mill & Major Auto Parts * she was a member of Farmington 1st Baptist Church & former Sunday School Teacher there for many years; * she was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association; * she was an attentive & loving stay-at-home mother for her 2 daughters & her grandchildren adored her.
Survivors Include: 2 Daughters - Judith Lynn 'Mrs. Robert' Benham, of Rockford, IL; Mary Kay 'Mrs. John' Highley, of Farmington. 1 Sister: Mildred 'Mrs. Bill' Graham, of Libertyville; 5 Grandchildren: Chris (& Suzanne) Benham, of Rockford, IL; Janel Benham, of Rockford, IL; Amy 'Mrs. Tom' Bullock, of Farmington; Rachel Hurtz, of Bonne Terre & Brad Hurtz, of Farmington. 3 Great-Grandchildren: Gage Cantu; Aidan Benham & Megan Bullock.
Visitation: Tuesday, 5-8 pm. Visitation resumes Wednesday at 7 am & funeral Wednesday, 1 pm, Feb. 23, 2005, at TAYLOR Funeral Service CHAPEL, with Rev. Donald Stanley officiating. Interment follows in Parkview Cemetery, Farmington.
