Murlin Ray Burt, formerly of Desloge, passed away in Panama City, FL, Sunday, March 4, 2012.He was born September 6, 1938 in Washington County.Murlin served his country for 3 years in the Coast Guard and later retired from McDonell Douglas.He was a member of The First Baptist Church of Wewahitchka, FL and he also attended the Ridgecrest Baptist Church when he was in MO.Murlin was a gardener and enjoyed planting 500 tomato plants a year.He also liked to take the time to build or repairs things, such as ramps for the church or shelves for the library. He is preceded in death by his father, Daniel Paul Burt. Murlin is survived by mother, Dorothy Marie (Prather) Burt Gibson; wife, Jeanne Hirsch; son, Kevin Ray Burt of Kingsport, TN; step-children, Robert Dale Hill, Lisa (Kevin) Horst, Vonda Hirsch, and Elizabeth (Brad) Trees; two grandchildren; siblings, Charles E. (Georgia) Burt, Linda Paulette (Paul) Moser of Bonne Terre, Rosemary Gibson (Charley) Barcliff of Springfield, MO, and Rodney (Maria Luisa) Burt of St. Charles; brother in-law David (Bradna) Bennett; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home of Desloge, Friday, March 9, 2012 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.Service will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Chapel, Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Dave Pinkston and Rev. Lindell Richardson officiating.Interment will be at Adams Frankclay Cemetery.The family asks Memorials to be donors choice.
