Melvin Gene Wright

            Gene Wright of Desloge, passed away in his home Thursday, March 16, 2017, at the age of 90. He was born August 16, 1926, to the late Silas and Jenny (O’Dell) Wright. Gene proudly served our country in the United States Army during WWII and later worked for St. Joe Lead Company for over 30 years.   He was a member of the First Baptist Church Sunday School.  

            He married Berlene (Tiefenauer) Wright who preceded him in death, as well as two sisters and their spouse, Ruth (Harold) Wilfong and Lucille (Claude) Wilson.  

            Gene is survived by a number of in-laws, nieces, nephews and many friends. 

            Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, March 20, 2017, from 9:00 AM until service time at 10:30 AM. Pastor Bradford Laubinger will be officiating. Interment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Baptist Home in Ironton or the Desloge First Baptist Church Family Ministry Center.
