Marlene Hedgcorth, 89, of Bonne Terre, passed away peacefully, July 9, 2024, at Presbyterian Manor in Farmington, surrounded by her loving family. Marlene was born December 8, 1934, in Center City, MN, to the late Steven James and Gladys Marie (Robinson) Grandstrand.
She was a faithful member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML), and Ladies Aid in Park Hills. Marlene served her community in several ways, from Register Nurse at Bonne Terre Hospital to a beloved school nurse at North County School District for over 31 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed volunteering at Parkland Health Center in Bonne Terre. She enjoyed baking with her grandchildren and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 66 years, Paul Hedgcorth; brother, Leland Grandstrand; one great-granddaughter, Anna Meyer; and beloved dog, Ginger.
Marlene is survived by her children, Steve Hedgcorth and wife Maggie, Scott Hedgcorth and wife Susan, Lisa Major and husband Walter; grandchildren, Kristin (Andrew) Guthrie, Brittany Hedgcorth, Megan (Cory) Serini, Daniel (Leslie) Eaton, Molly (Seth) Meyer and Michael (Magdalene) Eaton; ten great-grandchildren, Spencer, Lydia, Lillian, Scarlett, Ella, Evan, Macy, MJ, Landon and Madison; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Presbyterian Manor and Heart & Soul Hospice for the love and care given to Marlene.
Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Monday, July 15, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The visitation will resume Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at 9:00 AM until the service time at 11:00 AM. The Mineral Area Nurse Honor Guard will hold a Nightingale Tribute starting 15 minutes prior to service time. Pastor David Schmitt will be officiating. Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens in Farmington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Heart & Soul Hospice and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
