Mabel Louise Young

Mabel Young, 85, of Irondale, passed away September 21, 2015 at Country Meadows in Park Hills. She was born June 30, 1930, in Irondale, to the late Simon Lee and Ruby (Hardesty) Crump. Mabel was a member of the Irondale Baptist Church for 73 years, and taught Sunday School for 37. Mabel was a loving and selfless woman, who devoted her life to God and her family, leaving her position as a teacher to be a full time home-maker and stay at home mother to Dianne, Steve, and Judy. In her later years, her grandchildren and great grandson, were the lights of her life. She attended their many recitals, band concerts, choir concerts, and sporting events with pride. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Steve Young; one grandson, Kevin Young; one brother, Lee Golden Crump; and three sisters, Marian Cole, Ruth Gilmer, and Bernadine Hunt. Mabel is survived by her husband of 66 years, Everett Young; two daughters, Dianne Holifield and husband John of Irondale, Judy Edgar and husband David of Park Hills; three grandchildren, Chris (Melissa) Young, Caitlin Edgar, and Chelsea Edgar; one great-grandson, Jackson Young; siblings, Ina (Lloyd) Reese and Jessie Sumpter; many nieces and nephews also survive. A private service was held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Wednesday, September 23, 2015.
