Lonnie R. Newberry

Lonnie Newberry, 77, of Desloge, passed away June 17, 2024, at his home surrounded by those who loved him. He was born September 6, 1946, in Bonne Terre, to the late Albert and Eunice (Spray) Newberry. 

Lonnie was a Christian and served his country in the United States Army. He was a former member of the Mineral Area Elks Lodge #2583 in Desloge and retired as a Lieutenant from the Potosi Correctional Center. He loved tinkering in his garage and enjoyed fishing and hunting when he was not working. However, in his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, David Newberry, Patty Esparza and Susie Townsend.

Lonnie is survived by his wife of 8 years, Rusty (Bridges) Newberry; children, Carla DuVall and husband Max, Craig Newberry and wife Amanda, Nicholas Newberry and wife Chelsea, Joshua (fiancée, Cameron Courtois) Newberry, Christopher Chorn and wife Laura, Robby (fiancée, Jennifer) Ross; seventeen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; special nephew, Eric (Michelle) Newberry; along with several other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Wednesday, June 19, 2024, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM. Pastor Michael Barton will be officiating. Interment will follow at St. Francois Memorial Park in Bonne Terre with full military honors. Memorials may be directed in honor of Lonnie’s memory to the Dravet Syndrome Foundation.
