Loman Stone

Loman Stone formerly of Farmington, MO passed away surrounded by family, June 25, 2021, at the age of 91 in Springfield, MO.  He was born on March 18, 1930, at Fort Douglas, AR, the son of the late Homer and Leva (Terry) Stone.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Noble Stone and Artie Detring.  Loman is survived by his loving wife, Shirley of 70 years; his sons, Mark (Ginger) Stone of Loudon, TN, Darwin (Monica) Stone of Sparta, MO; granddaughter, Allison Stone of Springfield, MO; step-grandsons, Alex Ray of Dillon, CO and Dylan Ray of Springfield, MO; sister-in-law, Velma Stone of Dodge City, KS; brother-in-law, Aundo James (Faye) Carver of Farmington, MO; along with nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Loman and Shirley met at college in Springfield MO.  Loman served in the U.S. Army Signal Corp during the Korean War in Fort Gordon, GA, Fort Monmouth, NJ and Kodiak, AK.  After military service they moved to Farmington in 1954 when he began his career as a Journeyman Electrician.  He retired from Chrysler Corporation in 1995.  Loman was a faithful member of the Doe Run Baptist and Farmington First Baptist Churches since 1954 where he served as a Deacon, Trustee, Bible Study Teacher and supported various other community missions helping others.  In his spare time and post retirement he enjoyed being with family, working on church projects, gardening, photography, oil painting and traveling.  

Visitation and funeral service will be held Saturday, July 17, 2021 from 10:00 AM until time of the funeral service at 12:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Farmington officiated by Pastor Rocky Good and Pastor Greg Robinson.  Guest are requested to practice social distancing guidelines and please wear a face mask or covering. Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens, Farmington, MO.  In lieu of flowers, memorials and donations may be directed to Phoenix Hospice Care “In Memory of Loman Stone” 1839 E Independence Street, Suite K, Springfield, MO 65804 or First Baptist Church of Farmington - Building Fund 210 North A Street, Farmington, MO 63640.  Arrangements are under the direction of C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home-Taylor Chapel in Farmington.
