Lois Irvene Powell

Mrs. Lois Irvene 'Fetty' Powell passed away Thursday morning, November 29, 2012, at Farmington Presbyterian Manor at the age of 91 years and 22 days. Lois was born on November 7, 1921, in Viola, Wisconsin, and was the daughter of Oscar H. Fetty and Lida May 'Eastman' Fetty. Also preceding-in-death were: a Sister - Lida Fetty and 5 Brothers: Floyd; Edwin; Walter; Verl & Hugh Fetty.

Lois was raised on a dairy farm in Wisconsin and graduated from Richland Center High School in Wisconsin and Wisconsin State University at LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Lois met Harry Powell at a USO dance in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, while Harry was stationed at Camp McCoy, in 1943. Lois taught at Logan High School, Logan, WI and at State University in Platteville, WI. Lois and Harry were married on August 3, 1945, in St. Louis, MO., after V.E. Day. They moved to Farmington shortly thereafter. She taught P.E. and English at Elvins High School and Farmington Schools for a total of 28 years. Harry was the owner/operator of Powells Meat Locker Plant in Farmington. Lois was a longtime, faithful member of Memorial United Methodist Church of Farmington, for 60+ years.

Survivors include: her husband of 67 years, Robert Harry Powell, of Farmington. 2 sons: Robert E. "Bob" (& Bendi) Powell, of Terre du Lac, MO., and Gary L. (& Diane) Powell, of Fenton, MO. 1 daughter: Marsha E. (Mrs. John) Beulick, of St. Louis, MO. A sister: Violet Johnson, of LaCrosse, WI; 5 grandchildren: Anne Powell & husband, Jim Bollinger, of Seattle, WA; Bree (Mrs. Dr. Shane) Steiner, of Biloxi, MS; John Powell, of St. Louis, MO; Nicholas & Elaine Beulick, of St. Louis, MO. A great-granddaughter, Calleigh May Steiner. Also surviving are numerous nieces; nephews & cousins.

Visitation : Sunday, 2-4 p.m. @ TAYLOR Funeral and Cremation Service CHAPEL

Visitation Resumes : Monday, 10:30 a.m. at church

Funeral : Monday, 11:00 a.m., December 3, 2012

at : Memorial United Methodist Church, Farmington, with Rev. Scott Hall officiating.

Interment : Parkview Cemetery, Farmington
