Lenny Henson, 81, of Park Hills, passed away April 10, 2024, at his residence. He was born February 11, 1943, in Fredericktown, to the late Leonard Herman and Oleta Mae (Farmer) Henson, Sr. Lenny left his hometown of Elvins, to serve his country in The United States Marines from 1961 to 1965. After proudly serving, Lenny pursued a successful career in the banking industry. He dedicated several years as the President of First Bank in Park Hills and Bismarck, demonstrating exceptional leadership and integrity in all his endeavors. Lenny also made an indelible mark on his community, holding the distinction of being the last Mayor of Flat River and the first Mayor of Park Hills. His commitment to public service extended to his involvement with the Lions Club, where he worked diligently to support his fellow community members. Many knew Lenny, and will remember him by his fun, yet childlike sense of humor. He was known as “Quite the character.”
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara Henson; one brother in infancy, Ronald Henson; and one grandson, Derek Burch.
Lenny is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Sharon (Thurman) Henson; father to children, Bradley Henson and wife Anita, Sonya Bahr and husband Dave, Cathy O’Sullivan and husband Barry, Vicki Lopez and husband Joe, and Joey McClintock; adoring grandpa to Devin (Chey) Henson, Magen (Victor) Piel, Krislyn (Mitch Reidt) O’Sullivan, Bryce (Alex) MacBride, Ryan Burch, Angel (Joe) Pritchett, Thera (Michael) Barton II; and nine great-grandchildren; two siblings, Don (Sharon) Henson and Beverly Hamlin-Henson; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends also survive.
A memorial visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Thursday, April 18, 2024, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:30 AM. Pastor Michael Barton will be officiating. Inurnment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
