Leona Mcdowell

Leona L. McDowell, 83, of Bonne Terre passed away October 22, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was born August 30, 1938 in French Village to the late Leonard E. and Evelyn G. (Hall) Carron.  Leona worked at Good Earth and Product Supply for 42 years and enjoyed quilting and painting in her spare time.  

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Linda McDowell Wheatley; one great-grandson, William Cash Pigg; two brothers, Tom Carron and Norman Carron; three sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Wilt, Millie Carron and Geraldine Byington.

Leona is survived by her loving husband, Paul L. “Sonny” McDowell, Sr.; three children, Paul L. McDowell, Jr. and wife Stephanie, Debbie Fitzgerald and husband Mike, Bob McDowell and wife Sharon; son-in-law, Drew Wheatley; ten grandchildren, Brooke Smith, Nathan (Samantha) McDowell, Matt (Kendra) Pigg, Aaron, (Kyle) McDowell, Sarah (Dave) Inman, Chris (Ashley) Pigg, Hattie Debord, Alexis (Jason) Myers, Ashley (Justin) Driemeier, Jacob (Cady) McDowell; twenty-one great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy (Victor, Jr.) Bender and Sue (Ed) Ottinger.

Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Tuesday, October 26, 2021, from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 2:00 PM.  Reverend Randy Murphy will be officiating.  Interment will follow at Bonne Terre Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the North County Backpack Program.
